why I log into dA a lot:

So, there were internet issues after all... they just lulled me into a false sense o' security first! Which is why I've been offline for the past week.

However!
It is self-promotion month here on dA (I'm sure you already know), and to add to the spirit I'm gonna do some advertisin' for meself! So hi! I'm Alf, 34, father o' two and hopin' to be a writer of sorts (oh dear I've already lost your interest didn't I?). Well, truth be told I've been on dA for quite a while now (3,5 years), but at first I mostly mucked about... the community spirit didn't catch my full attention at first (I'm kinda slow on the uptake ). I also don't often submit deviations and I certainly don't hand out a lot of critique worth mentioning (I'd love to, though), but hey - all the better for your inbox right?

This was all, by the way, an attempt to make you symphatize with me so'd you'd be real serious about what follows:
I write. I don't do it as often as I'd like to and I'd also like to be better at it, but anyway... Writing sort of started as 'a fun thing to do': it was mostly humorous fantasy-parody. However, over the past few years I started to take it more seriously, and began to experiment with styles, genres... it doesn't always work out, and ever so often the tale takes a strange turn indeed, but that's part of the charm. As a result, I'd like to think of myself as a varied writer. Check out these and tell me if I'm right:

On occasion, I also catch poetry... it usually starts with a song, I can't get the melody out of my head so I make my own lyrics to it and call it a poem. The good folk over at *DailyDeviants described the outcome as 'never forced or stale', which got tattooed straight onto my heart (thanks again, you guys! )

the awesomefull:

Last friday, my mate Phylle and his wife became the parents of a beautiful daughter. Thrilling as it is (and congratulations to them again), it's also more than exciting for me as they asked me to be godfather!! An honour I gladly accepted. I'm going to visit later today and get acquainted with her (ahh, can't wait, I love that new baby scent).

As you may notice: I'm still online, so the internet switch went smoothly! However, there are new developments around the place as, for the past two days, I've only seen our littlest cat lying somewhere in the garden; she's not always in the same place but I haven't seen her walking since thursday evening or so, so I'm thinking she lost her legs and either crawls around or gets blown all over the backyard, as we are having strong winds the last few days. Although...

...I just put some food outside and she came running, problem solved.
